Amicis Sinfonia and the Hong Kong Cohesique Symphonic Band, in collaboration with the Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care, presents a special concert: “A Journey of Wishes: Light, Harmony, and Empathy.” This concert, designed for children and young people, features a captivating selection of iconic film scores — including music from Jurassic Park, Cinema Paradiso, Schindler’s List, and Star Wars — alongside beloved classical and jazz repertoire such as Danzón No. 2, Sabre Dance, and Jazz Suite No. 2.

We are honoured to welcome renowned educator and saxophonist MC Chiang as our guest soloist. Known for his excellence in Chinese language and literature, and his achievements as a saxophone performer, Maestro Chiang will join the orchestra to present Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto, offering a unique and inspiring musical experience.

The concert aims to raise funds for the “Subsidy Bed Program” and “Home Care Services,” supporting underprivileged patients with terminal illnesses and promoting palliative care. Whether through the hopeful wishes under the stars in film music, or the warmth of timeless classics, we hope this evening of music brings comfort, encouragement, and light to those facing adversity.

The Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care (SPHC)

The Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care (SPHC) was established in 1986 as a non-profit charitable organization with the mission to advocate for the development of palliative care as well as provide bereavement services, professional training and public education on life and death. Through the Jockey Club Home for Hospice in Shatin, the SPHC offers inpatient hospice care, home care, day care, and bereavement counseling, enabling patients to complete their final journey in comfort and dignity, surrounded by loved ones. In addition, the SPHC operates the Jessie and Thomas Tam Centre in Cheung Sha Wan, serving as a community resource and bereavement support center for those who are grieving.
